"No More Silent Battles" - Dementia and Community Based Health Care In The Home
11:45 AM Guest Speaker - Dr. Jenny Ingram "No More Silent Battles" - Dementia and Community Based Health Care In The Home Feb. 09, 2026 11:45 a.m.

Dr. Jenny Ingram has been a trailblazer in Geriatric Medicine and seniors’ care throughout her career. For twenty years, she has worked to demonstrate that ALL Family Practice Physicians with trained teams in place, can and will diagnose Alzheimer's Disease and dementia in their patients.

Her most enduring work has been the implementation of the 12 small city geriatric teams across eastern Ontario, known as the GAIN teams. This refers to teams for Geriatric Assessment and Intervention, networked across the 12 communities, a first in Ontario. Jenny Ingram has been recognized for these many research and community building projects with awards including the Ontario Medical Association’s Community Service Award, the Seniors Care Network Lifetime Achievement Award, and an Honourary Doctor of Science from Trent University in 2023.

Dr. Ingram became very concerned during COVID, as she watched how well-intentioned policies were so blind to their impact on her patient population with dementia.  The documentary, No More Silent Battles, is the result. This documentary amplifies the obvious need for community-based health care in the home. Economists recognize that funding home care would be cost-effective. What is missing is the political will. No More Silent Battles gives a voice to those who are currently silenced: the people with dementia and their care partners and families. “No More Silent Battles urges us all to be silent no more.”

Please Note: Our meetings aren’t open to the general public, so attendance is limited to visiting Rotarians, invited guests of a member, the guest of the speaker, or those who have been invited by our membership chair. If you would like to attend this meeting as a Guest, please email contact@peterboroughrotary.ca

2026-02-15 10:00:00Z Feb. 15, 2026 Camp Kawartha Winter Outing Feb. 15, 2026
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The Peterborough Kawartha Rotary Club has been using the Camp Kawartha environment center in recent years to have a winter outing. This year the event takes place on Sunday, February 15th from 10 am. to about 1 pm.

PKRC would like to invite the members of the Peterborough Rotary Club to come out and join in on this fun and healthy outing in nature. Also, we would love to see some of the Rotaract club members join us too!

We start off at 10 am with a coffee and some cookies, then go for a hike, snowshoeing or cross country ski on the property. After returning we have a bowl of soup and fresh bread. The camp provides snowshoes for us to use at no charge. To cover the cost for the food and beverage we ask for a voluntary donation towards the expense.

To register for the event, please contact Gunther Schubert, PKRC.
